Fall Inspired Guacamole
Every week, we are releasing even more recipes! This week, we give a classic recipe a Fall twist with this Pear and Cranberry Guacamole recipe. It is creamy, sweet, and tart…what more can you ask from guacamole?
Guacamole is one of my favorite snacks because… well, avocados. This healthy fat is known for its brain, heart, eye, and skin benefits. What you might not know is that avocados also contain more potassium than bananas. Potassium helps with fluid balance, which aids in muscle recovery after exercising and lowering blood pressure. They even contain 2.9g of protein (according to Google).
Even though avocados are life, this mash can get a little boring after a while. So, we are adding a couple of Fall favorites to make an unconventional but delicious guacamole recipe.
Why pearS and cranberries?
They are in season. I am not the best at it but eating in season will change your foodie life. You get your fruits and vegetables when they are at their best and most flavorful. This makes your dish – plant-based or not – that much more amazing.
Pears are so delicious in the Fall. They have a light sweetness that is perfect for guacamole. Pears are also very nutritious. You might know that pears are a great source of fiber and promote digestive health. But, did you know they are an anti-inflammatory? Pears are great Fall fruits to add to your diet.
Cranberries are one of my favorite things. I love this little berry's tartness and often find ways to include dried cranberries into my snacks. They are full of health benefits, including decreasing inflammation. You might love cranberries as much as I do, or you could completely hate them. If you are not too impressed with cranberries, feel free to swap them out for dried cherries.
Let’s get to mashing!
This recipe takes no time at all. I started by cutting up my pears, pepper, cranberry, and shallots. Adding them to a medium bowl and giving them a good mix before adding the avocado. Pre-mixing the add-ins helps to keep me from over mixing the guacamole.
Next, cut the avocados in half, deseed, and scoop out the green goodness with a spoon. At this point, add salt, lime juice, and cilantro. Then, mash to desired consistency. Once mashed to your heart's content, add chopped items, and stir to incorporate. Chill or serve as is.
Feel free to make this recipe your own. Want less sweetness? Decrease the amount of pear. Want more spice? Adjust the ratio of jalapeno to sweet peppers.
Tips for storing- If you plan to store the guacamole, here are a couple of tips to keep it from oxidizing:
Add guacamole to an airtight container and add a little more lime juice to the top. Add the lid and store in the fridge.

Pear and Cranberry Guacamole
Ingredients
- ¾ C. pear - cubed
- 3 Tbs shallot - diced
- 3 Tbs sweet pepper – diced
- 3 Tbs jalapeno
- 1 Tsp cilantro – roughly chopped
- 3 Tbs dried cranberries – roughly chopped
- 3 avocados
- Juice of 1 ½ limes
- ¼ Tsp salt
Instructions
- Chop pear, shallot, sweet pepper, jalapeno, cilantro, and cranberries. Set aside
- Cut open, deseed, and peel skin from avocados. Add to bowls and mash to desired texture.
- Add in chopped vegetables, lime juice, and salt into the avocado mash. Stir until incorporated.
