WE TRAVELED TO KANSAS CITY

The weather is chilly, but there is still time to go on a little adventure. This past week, Mama Paige visited Kansas City on a work trip. When the pictures started rolling in, I knew we had to share some of the awesome dishes she was able to try on PlantBasedSlay.

Like me, Mama Paige made the most of her trip to Kansas City. I mean, where do you think I get it from? So, this trip will be split into two posts. The first one will have you asking, can you pass the plate? It’sCanihaveabite – a restaurant offering “farm to home organic carryout”.

Ok, let’s talk about the food.

Vegan Lasagna.Made with rice lasagna noodles and cashew ricotta, this vegan lasagna is exactly what you need at the end of a long day. It’s filling without leaving you with the heavy feeling you can get after eating pasta.

Is it Poke if it’s Vegan? Bowl. You will not believe the amazing flavors that are in this bowl. From green chili oil to salted tofu to avocado wasabi sauce, Mama Paige says you definitely need this bowl in your life.

Peace. Love. Salad. If this is what non-vegan calls rabbit food, then I want all parts of it. This hearty salad has Brussel sprouts, season veggies, dried cranberries, rosemary roasted pecans and so much more. You can’t go wrong with this salad!

Do these dishes have your mouth watering? Well, take a look at Canihaveabite’s full menu.

Why we love Canihaveabite

A Canihaveabite offers delicious and nutritious plant-based foods. But, there is so much more to love about this place. Here is what we love:

  • Local and organic. We love a restaurant that supports the local farmers and canihaveabite does just that! Their website mentions, “During market season it can be a little as 24 hours between the produce being picked and you picking up your food.”

  •  Sustainable packaging. Not only does canihaveabite source locally they are also zero waste. What does this mean? 100% compostable packing and online menus. After you are done with your meal, just toss the whole container in the compost bin.

  • Warm environment. The space is small but warm and welcoming. On her visit, Mama Paige was able to meet the owner, Kathy, learn about her story and the story of how canihaveabite came to be. After Mama Paige’s first day of visiting, she knew she would be back – if not for the great food but for the great environment.

The wrap-up

This is just one place in a plethora of vegan options. Needless to say, I can’t wait to visit Kansas City and explore. Have you visited or want to visit Kansas City or another plant-based food destination? Tell us about it in the comments below or @plantbasedslay on Instagram.
